If you haven’t already, now is the time to register for the 2015 NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Expo, which will take place from March 30–April 2 at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas! This amazing professional development opportunity will allow you to reconnect with your NIRSA family and advance your understanding of the collegiate recreation profession. Early bird registration rates end on February 18, so make sure to register before then to get the lowest possible prices!

For those members who just can’t wait to start their NIRSA 2015 experience, there are a number of great preconference workshops and activities happening on March 30. Six preconference workshops—some of which run half a day and others a whole day—feature material that ranges from health and wellbeing to social justice to the value of campus recreation. There really is something for everyone!

And if you’re looking for something a little different, think about taking a guided canoe tour of the Trinity River’s Elm Fork— transportation, equipment, instruction, and lunch are all included in the cost—or going on a facility tour. This year, attendees have the option to tour either Fort Worth area rec facilities or Dallas area rec facilities. Make sure to sign up for the canoe trip or a facility tour soon—historically, these preconference activities sell out quickly.

After a day of taking part in a great preconference opportunity, spend your evening relaxing at the All Conference Social! It’s going to be a good time at the Gaylord Texan as the All Conference Social kicks off the week of NIRSA events. All three atriums of the Gaylord Texan will cater to NIRSA attendees and the focus will be on fun!

Listen to soft jazz in the Hill Country Atrium while sampling Italian food and making the most of the mellow atmosphere to catch up with old friends and to make some new ones. Attend the fiesta in the Riverwalk Atrium where there will be a buffet of Mexican botanas and a mariachi band. Does a good old Texan barbecue and picnic sound up your alley? Then visit the Lone Star Atrium where there will be even more food as well as armadillo racing, and you can pose for a photo in Old Western garb. Also, make sure to join your friends in Texan Station for the O’s, who are going to bring down the house with their signature sound.

The days following the All Conference Social will be jam packed with education sessions, invited speakers, even more socials, NIRSA Foundation events, and Expo Hall fun. It’s going to be a great week full of friends and networking and learning. You’re not going to want to miss it, so register for NIRSA 2015 today!
