NIRSA gives women flag football players a league of their own

In the April 2026 issue of Athletic Business Magazine, writer Michael Popke catches up with NIRSA volunteer and staff leaders in pickleball to discuss how NIRSA’s Championship Series is promoting women’s flag football.

Members of NIRSA staff and Gary Cahen, Associate Director for Recreation Programs at the University of Central Florida and Stephanie Calhoun, Assistant Director of Recreation Facilities at Georgia Southern University connect with AB Magazine to offer some perspective about how the NIRSA Championship Series is adding a dedicated women’s league to its storied portfolio of regional and national championship tournaments.
