NIRSA relies heavily on member expertise and commitment for its evolution and advancement. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce the appointments for the 2016–2017 NIRSA Championship Series Committee; the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Value Commission; the 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference Program Committee Chair; and the 2018 Host Committee Chair. The Association is fortunate to have such dedicated members who are willing to support NIRSA through leadership positions!

NIRSA Championship Series

The NIRSA Championship Series gives college recreational sports participants an opportunity to compete, coordinate, officiate, and connect with skilled peers from other schools. The committee chair is appointed by the NIRSA Services Corporation Board and serves for three years—one year as Second Vice Chair, another as Vice Chair, and one more as Chair. The Series is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Fain, CRSS, Intramural Sports Program Director at Georgia Southern University, as the incoming second vice chair.

NIRSA Strategic Values Commissions

NIRSA’s Strategic Values Commissions are charged with developing concrete plans that support the Association’s Strategic Plan. They pursue measureable goals, and develop and deliver useable resources to our members. Commissioners are appointed by the NIRSA President and typically serve for three-year terms. This year, there were open seats on the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Commission.

We are pleased to announce the following new members of the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Commission:

  • Erin Patchett, CRSS, RCRSP, Colorado State University
  • Kim Rottet, Cleveland State University

NIRSA Annual Conference Program Committee

The chair of the NIRSA Annual Conference Program Committee provides leadership to the Committee and is critical to a successful Annual Conference. The chair is appointed by the NIRSA President and serves for three years—one year as Chair-Elect, another as Chair, and one more as Consultant. We are pleased to announce that Becky Dahl, Associate Director for Programs at the University Recreation at University of Arkansas, has been appointed as Chair-Elect and will Chair the 2018 Conference Program Committee. The Chair of the 2017 Annual Conference Program Committee will be Demond Pryor, Director of the Department of Recreation at the University of Toledo.

NIRSA Annual Conference Host Committee

The NIRSA Annual Conference Host Committee serves a vital role in creating a memorable and valued NIRSA Annual Conference experience for attendees by providing resources and expertise from their institution and the surrounding area. The chair is appointed through a collaborative appointment process that includes the regional representative from the NIRSA region where the conference will be held and staff from NIRSA Headquarters. Together, these individuals vet the applicants. We are pleased to announce that Erin Patchett, CRSS, RCRSP, Assistant Director of Facilities & Aquatics at Colorado State University, has been appointed to this position for the 2018 Annual Conference. The Chair of the 2017 Annual Conference Host Committee will be Jocelyn Hill, Director of Recreational Sports & Fitness at American University.

The Association would like to congratulate all of the newly-appointed members to these various leadership positions, and to thank them for their commitment to furthering the collegiate recreation profession. NIRSA would not thrive without such dedicated, passionate members!
