The newly introduced NIRSA Collegiate Recreation Research Grant encourages the development and dissemination of impactful, research-based knowledge to the field of collegiate recreation.

NIRSA’s Research and Assessment Committee is pleased to announce that the Association has awarded a grant to support the research proposal: “Toward the Development of National Intramural and Club Sport Gender Equity Guidelines.” This study will look to critically assess the applicability of Title IX guidance to intramural and club sports, with the intent of developing national gender equity guidelines that provide clarification on the issues that differ from varsity programs and that may subsequently be used to assess compliance.

The principal investigator and research team are from the University of Illinois and include the following individuals:

Results of this research proposal will be presented at the 2015 National NIRSA Conference in Dallas, and the team will be encouraged to submit a proposal for a Recreational Sports Journal article.
