Submit Associate Member & Company updates
Associate member contacts are invited to submit proposals for member spotlights, commentary & views, or program/initiative features via the standard “pitch us your ideas” process that’s available to all members.
Associate Member Press Releases
We also invite associate members to share relevant updates about their companies with NIRSA member professionals, students, and schools. Press releases from associate member companies that have been tailored for the campus recreation audience can be submitted for NIRSA news publication consideration provided it meets the following guidelines:
- Your message is not a solicitation
News updates must be informational in nature (e.g., our company is changing names, or a member of our company was just recognized with a prestigious award, etc.). Submissions that contain promotional copy constructed to influence rather than inform the NIRSA audience will not be considered for publication. Promotional opportunities are reserved for sponsored content. - Your message provides useful information for the NIRSA audience
Determination of whether a content submission is suitable for the NIRSA news platform or not is at the discretion of NIRSA content editors. - Your message has been formatted for NIRSA publication
NIRSA’s associate member news submission guidelines are detailed below.
Submission process
To submit content for consideration, please email a draft of your article and any graphical assets to the NIRSA Director of Communications using the subject line “Associate Member News – Content for Consideration.”
Before submitting, please verify that the draft article is free from any solicitation language.
Draft submissions should include the following elements:
- A proposed title
- A byline that includes the name of the attributed author, the individual’s professional title, and company affiliation
- A clear reference to the primary audience (e.g., “Fitness instructors working on college campuses will know…,” “Campus rec professionals will want to know…,” “Intramural coordinators will want to take advantage of this free opportunity…,”)
- All relevant hyperlinks and attachments of additional materials, if applicable
- A human point of contact that NIRSA members can reach out to for more information
Additional considerations
Increase your chances for publication by connecting your news article to NIRSA values, members, events, or initiatives.
You may also submit web-quality images or graphics (provided you are the copyright holder) for consideration to be paired with the news article. Images should be at least 1200 pixels wide.
Terms & Conditions
In submitting your article to NIRSA, you give NIRSA the exclusive right to publish and to syndicate—directly or through others—the article in any form. You authorize NIRSA the nonexclusive and irrevocable license in perpetuity to republish the article in print, online, through syndication, or in any other form, manner, format, or medium, whether now known or hereafter developed, throughout the world and in any language. You also authorize NIRSA to include the article in electronic archives and databases, whether maintained by NIRSA or by third parties. Thirty days after the initial publication on the NIRSA website, you retain the right to republish the article anywhere else you choose; however, republication of the article should acknowledge the original NIRSA source.
In submitting the article, you warrant that it is original, that all the facts contained therein are true and accurate, that it does not infringe another’s copyright or proprietary rights and does not violate any person’s right of privacy, and that the article has not appeared in any other publication in whole or in part.
You will be deemed to have accepted these terms upon submission of your article and/or upon signing off on the final version of the draft.
