The dates are set for the 2013 NIRSA Regional and National Flag Football Championships and there are many new changes that will take place this year.

The Regional Championships have expanded from eight to twelve sites for the 2013 season.

Brian Mills, Flag Football Work Team Chair explains, “We are excited about the opportunity to expand to more sites.

We were able to bring on some of the most long-lasting and traditional tournaments in the country.” Further, Mills explains that all previous hosts who have made the commitment to our tournaments helped to make this expansion possible.

Increasing the number of flag football tournament sites will allow for greater participation of student athletes, more opportunities for student officials, and additional opportunities for professional staff to engage in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of quality NIRSA Championship Series tournaments.

Participate in high-level competition.

The culminating tournament, the NIRSA National Flag Football Championship, will take place at the University of West Florida on January 3-5, 2014. With its long history of success, this tournament showcases the top flag football teams from around the country. As national tournament host, the University of West Florida represents a significant step in the right direction for our tournament. Hosted by an outstanding school in a great location, this venue should help to drive the participation in this national format to all-time highs in the coming years. The Flag Football Hall of Fame presented by the University of New Orleans will continue the storied tradition during the 2014 NIRSA National Flag Football Championship. Sid Gonsoulin, NSC Board of Director, is excited to announce the roll out of an Institutional Registration which will have varied recognition opportunities for universities/colleges, teams, student officials and staff.

NIRSA Championship Series events are the only campus non-varsity sports series to support NIRSA’s dedication to fostering student development, commitment to the larger learning community, and emphasis on leadership and excellence!
