Having championed the phrase “It’s more than competition,” the NIRSA Championship Series produces events known not only for their outstanding student athlete performance but also for the development opportunities they provide student officials and professional staff. Don’t miss out on the chance to send student officials and professional staff members to this year’s NIRSA National Flag Football Championship—take advantage of Institutional Registration!

A relatively-new offering by the NIRSA Championship Series, Institutional Registration guarantees that an institution’s student officials and university staff—in addition to its intramural and sport club teams—are part of an event. It also gives participating university recreation programs an opportunity to be identified on a national level.

Institutional Registration comes in three different levels—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—each corresponding to a different degree of involvement in and recognition at the NIRSA National Championships. More detailed information about the three levels—what they offer institutions, how much they cost, etc.—can be found on the NIRSA website. The deadline to register for National Flag Football Institutional Registration is Monday, October 3.

The University of Florida has taken advantage of Institutional Registration since it was first offered three years ago. David Bowles, Director at the University of Florida and member of the NIRSA Services Corporation Board, explains that “Institutional Registration gives a university the opportunity to be recognized for supporting a NIRSA Championship Series event. Investing in the championship events supports my university’s mission by developing students—specifically, by developing their leadership skills.” He continues, “Whether playing, officiating, or working on the staff, students involved in NIRSA Championship Series events are exposed to a diverse experience as they interact with peers from the US and Mexico in a competitive, collegial environment. What our students bring back to campus is invaluable.”

“Institutional Registration is an excellent way for NIRSA members to take full advantage of the incredible professional and student development available at the national tournament,” adds Stephanie McAlpine, Assistant Director at University of Texas at Arlington and past NIRSA Championship Series Committee Chair and NIRSA Services Corporation Board member. “As a past staff member and student participant, I believe the tournament is a learning laboratory and provides the opportunity to share incredible skills and knowledge with your campus. As the game of flag football continues to expand across the country, NIRSA is a leading resource for strengthening both officials, players and coaches.”

The NIRSA Championship Series would like to recognize and thank the institutions that took advantage of Institutional Registration in 2015:

  • University of Florida—Gold
  • University of Southern Mississippi—Gold
  • University of Texas at Austin—Gold
  • Georgia Southern University—Silver
  • Louisiana State University—Bronze

Take advantage of Institutional Registration with the NIRSA Championship Series today and elevate your intramurals program to the next level! The deadline to register is Monday, October 3.
