Membership rate increases for the Association are calculated based on the CPI index for Portland, Oregon, and are governed by NIRSA Bylaws. On July 1, NIRSA institutional and individual membership dues will increase by 1%, which means that NIRSA institutional members will see an increase between $3 and $17. Professional and student members will see a $1-2 increase in individual membership dues.

As we look to expand the global perspective of the Association, international institutions will continue to receive a 25% discounted rate on institutional dues. Individual dues rates for all individual and students and professional memberships do not change based on the location of a member’s institution.

Additionally, NIRSA is changing the way institutional membership dues are calculated. Beginning July 1, NIRSA will calculate institutional membership dues rates based on federally-reported enrollment data in the national IPEDS system. The purpose of the change is to create a fair, consistent, and easy to understand process.

The IPEDS data is the same metric we are using for the Institutional Data Set and will replace the old method of basing dues on community served.  While some member institutions will experience a change in their dues bracket, the majority of schools will not see a significant change. If you have any questions about the new calculations or rate increase, don’t hesitate to contact the NIRSA Membership Department.
