In an effort to embrace and project a global perspective for the Association—one of NIRSA’s six strategic values—and in an effort to better align the Association’s professional development offerings the National School of Recreational Sports Management is changing its name to the NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation.

This change, in conjunction with the naming changes of other NIRSA educational events and the NIRSA staff office, reflects an open, welcoming atmosphere to all NIRSA members—not just those from any one nation—and affirms the broadening international appeal of NIRSA educational events.

National School of Recreational Sports ManagementNational School of Recreational Sports Management is now the NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation.

As with the title updates, it is important to note that while the names may be changing, the program content, quality, and design will remain up to the same standards that NIRSA members both expect and deserve. In fact, this name change might be the least noticeable, as most NIRSA members know this institute as simply, “the School,” and, with this new title, that reference will remain.

If you are interested in helping “the School” continue to move forward, while maintaining the core that makes it great, consider becoming a faculty member! Applications, which include eligibility information, are now available for three-year NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation faculty members. All professional, Professional Life, retired, emeritus or associate members are encouraged to apply by the November 1 deadline. Don’t miss this chance to make a direct and lasting impact on the future of the collegiate recreation field!
