NIRSA and ACUI are teaming up for a joint conference in 2028

On behalf of NIRSA, I am thrilled to announce that campus recreation and college unions will be teaming up for a joint conference and expo experience in 2028! Happening April 4-7, 2028, in Milwaukee, WI, this exciting collaboration will bring together professionals and students from two of the most influential contributors to today’s college student experience.

An exciting collaboration

“The role of the college union is to advance campus community,” says John Taylor, Ed.D, Chief Executive Officer for ACUI. “And like our colleagues in campus recreation, we offer programs and services that support the success and leadership development of students. So, it makes sense for our two organizations to work together to find synergies and advance our common goals,” John adds.

“NIRSA professionals across North America create environments that support healthy people and thriving communities through inclusive recreation, sport, and fitness opportunities,” says April Flint of Emory University and NIRSA President-Elect on the NIRSA Board of Directors. “Like college unions, campus recreation plays a vital role in fostering belonging and helping students feel connected in ways that significantly influence their wellbeing, engagement, persistence, and success,” says April.

Together, our members will be poised to meet the moment, take on the challenges facing institutions of higher learning, and deliver results for this generation of students.

A unified conference experience

While both organizations have longstanding traditions and unique experiences that characterize our respective flagship events, attendees can look forward to a unified conference experience that delivers new opportunities for collaboration, learning, and innovation.

More details about presentation opportunities and registration rates will be shared on our respective websites by the summer of 2027.
