The Community, Connection, and Service Work Team focuses on creating a Championship Series experience where everyone feels a sense of belonging, support, and purpose. This team develops resources, training materials, and initiatives that promote fairness, celebrate diverse experiences, and encourage inclusive practices across all levels of the Series. Members collaborate with other work teams and the Executive Board to lead community-building efforts, address concerns, and provide education that strengthens relationships and fosters a welcoming environment. Their work helps ensure that every participant has the opportunity to feel connected, valued, and supported.
Requirements
Current NIRSA professional or student membership is required for the duration of the committee term. Demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environments, actively uplifting all voices and ensuring participants feel valued and supported. The committee member should be able to engage respectfully and empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, while feeling comfortable facilitating conversations, giving and receiving feedback, and addressing concerns constructively. This role requires close collaboration with other work teams, the Executive Team, and the broader NIRSA community, along with a readiness to support initiatives that promote fairness, wellbeing, and accessibility across all levels of the NIRSA Championship Series. The volunteer should proactively identify gaps or challenges related to connection and inclusion and work toward meaningful solutions. Additionally, they are expected to attend regular meetings, meet deadlines, follow through on assigned responsibilities, and communicate their availability and capacity honestly and respectfully.
Time Commitment
Approximately 2-3 hours per month.
Term Length
Committee terms are one year and run from June 1 through May 31.
