Preserving and sharing the historically significant milestones and legacies of NIRSA members has long been a prerogative of the Association. At times, the responsibility of this work has been assigned to a single historian. On other occasions, this work has been delegated to committees, work teams, and task forces. In 2023, the History and Legacy Committee was reconstituted as a standing NIRSA committee.
Requirements
Current individual NIRSA membership is required for the duration of the committee appointment. Committee members be willing to compile or develop content for the purpose of sharing.
Time Commitment
The committee typically meets monthly for one hour throughout the NIRSA leadership year. Asynchronous time spent on research or content development is also required. Committee members are asked to complete work on no fewer than four spotlights during their term, with each project requiring 1-2 hours of work.
Term Length
Committee terms are one year and run from May 1 to April 30; the Chair track is a three year commitment.
