You matter: NIRSA Championship Series updates from Kris Newsom

Thank you for taking some time out of your busy to day to watch this month’s “YOU MATTER” conversation.

As I approach the end of my tenure as the Chair for the NIRSA Championship Series Executive Board, I want to recognize my fellow Executive Board members this month. This month you will have the opportunity to learn a little bit about the following wonderful people:

  • Nicole Jackson,  NIRSA, Director of National Sport Programs
  • Stephanie Calhoun, NIRSA Championship Series – Incoming Chair (Current 1st Vice Chair)
  • Nikki Vance, NIRSA Championship Series – Incoming 1st Vice Chair (Current 2nd Vice Chair)
  • Greg Durham, NIRSA Championship Series – Incoming 2nd Vice Chair

I would also like to acknowledge Lauren Carlson, Coordinator of NIRSA National Sport Programs, who would have also joined this call if she was not in the process of traveling to the NIRSA National Basketball Championship tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Without their wisdom, guidance, support, and jokes, I would not have made it through this year! I am very grateful for each one of them and I know that the NIRSA Championship Series is in great hands for the future.

Safe travels and hopefully I will have the opportunity to meet you at this month’s NIRSA Conference! As we progress towards the end of another academic year, I hope that you take a moment to reflect on the good things that happened for you, in your personal life and professionally! Hopefully you recognize the positive influence you’ve had on students that are preparing to graduate, along with the students that are excited to return in the fall.

Thank you for all that you do and know what YOU DO STILL MATTERS!
