2019 NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation

May 19 – May 23, 2019 | Portland, Oregon

For over thirty years, NIRSA has offered the School experience for those who want to develop the skills and relationships to grow their careers in the field of collegiate recreation.

The 2019 NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation will be held at the Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Pearl District.

The School is an intensive professional development opportunity that provides an intimate and intensive learning experience to help professionals develop competencies to be successful higher education & collegiate recreation professionals.

With a small learning environment, this is an experience that helps attendees create strong networks with their peers in the field.

Who attends NIRSA School?

The target audience for NIRSA School events each year varies. 2019 NIRSA School will be designed for newer professionals in the field in the beginning years of their careers.

New professionals may be found supervising student staff and serving as club organization advisors. They may be found supervising professional staff, but their experience in this role may be limited in scope in comparison to more experienced professionals. New professionals are usually responsible for coordinating the direct delivery of programs and services. For example, they may be found working in specific functional areas (e.g. club sports, aquatics, intramurals, facilities, marketing, etc). If this description sounds like you, the 2019 NIRSA School experience may be right for you!

What topics are covered in NIRSA School?

With a faculty: student ratio of 1:6, this is a learning opportunity provides an opportunity to dive deep into both fundamental and hot topics in the field. The curriculum will be developed by the faculty, and more information will be posted later in fall about the content. Generally, topics for each School event are designed by NIRSA School Faculty to meet the needs of attendees, and be timely and relevant.

NIRSA Registry

Attendees may earn NIRSA CEUs to apply toward the Registry of Collegiate Recreation Sports Professional (RCRSP) credential.

The NIRSA Triventure was incredibly relevant to the work that we are currently doing in all three areas of recreation back on our campus. It was an excellent learning experience.

Dave Bryngil, Saint Peter's University

NIRSA Triventure is a great conference for a small university as these three areas are key for us and you can gain valuable info on all three areas. The size of the conference is great so that you can build relationships with those attending the conference in a more meaningful way due to the intimate nature of the sessions and the facility tours. Well Done!

Rin Seibert, Valparaiso University

It was a great opportunity to see some current clients, CSU – Fort Collins and University of Washington. We had the opportunity to meet new clients NDSU and Virginia Tech. We had the opportunity to keep the conversation going with potential clients the University of Central Florida and the University of New Hampshire. InnoSoft will continue to participate in the NIRSA Triventure.
