About the Intramural & Club Sports Institute

Seventy-five years ago, NIRSA got its start when 20 intramural professionals working at 11 HBCUs gathered at Dillard University in New Orleans to discuss the benefits of offering intramural programming to students on their respective campuses. Today, intramural programs and club sports are a keystone of campus recreation and wellbeing department portfolios. NIRSA continues to lead the way in fostering a community of intramural and club sports professionals who work to improve campus offerings to the benefit of millions of students across North America. This is why we are thrilled to share that the 2025 Intramural & Club Sports Institute will take place in Kansas City from June 24–26.

This is the only event that specializes in education and networking for intramural and club sport professionals. The institute offers three main educational tracks: intramurals, club sports, and middle-management. These tracks will be designed to support the development of functional area specialists serving in these areas of the profession as well as prepare folks for career advancement. The in-person Intramural & Club Sports Institute only takes place every other year so don’t miss out on this special opportunity to grow your knowledge and professional network!

Keynote Speaker

Rachel Finley

Rachael, aka “Coach Roach”, is originally from Detroit, MI. She grew up an active kid while competing as a National Champion Roller Skater and being drug around to play all kinds of various sports by her two older brothers. She found her love for Collegiate Recreation when she attended Central Michigan University and made the Club Volleyball Team. It was then that she discovered the world of programming for students who were NOT NCAA athletes and wanted to contribute to these opportunities with a career in Collegiate Recreation.
