Get ready to embrace the crisp air, vibrant foliage, and the thrilling energy of fall sports! As the summer heat fades away, a new season of excitement and competition is about to begin and the NIRSA Championship Series couldn’t be more thrilled!
Are you passionate about the Series? I’m here to tell you our applications are open, and we’re looking for student officials, volunteer staff, tournament directors, future leaders, and potential host locations! Various positions are open for our regional and national championships in both our fall sports: soccer and flag football. Apply today to join in on the fun!
Never volunteered with the Champ Series before? Well, volunteering at a tournament can be a valuable way to engage in professional development while also contributing to a meaningful event. Opportunites like networking, skills development, leadership experience, problem solving, event management, exposure to the behind-the-scenes of tournaments, time management, and a sense of achievement and fulfillment can all be experienced by volunteering. Contribute to the success of a tournament and learn skill sets to take back to your own campus.
Are you or do you know a student official who might be interested in our tournaments? Look to one of our eight flag football locations this fall—from Arizona State University to the University of Maryland and a lot more amazing host sites in between. Check out our website to view the full list of our flag football regional tournaments, now presented by NFL Flag which is the presenting sponsor for all flag football regionals and the NIRSA Championship Series Flag Football National Tournament.
Still not convinced? Angelica Adame, Coordinator, Competitive Sports at the University of Colorado Denver, says, “Aside from the obvious love of sports, volunteering with the NIRSA Champ Series provided the opportunity for me to continue to give back to the students we serve daily in campus recreation.”
Angelica, Angie for short, first volunteered within the Champ Series at our National Soccer Championships in Fall 2022 and has since stepped into the role of Vice Chair for our Brand Management Work Team. She adds, “I always want to ensure that students are gaining a valuable experience from participating in our programs and the Champ Series is an extension of that. It’s our opportunity to deliver an exceptional tournament experience in the sport they love and continue to encourage their participation in recreational and competitive activities because of the countless benefits they personally reap from it. We get to do that for them with the Series and it’s why I chose to volunteer.”
Remember that volunteering as a tournament volunteer or official comes with responsibilities and challenges as well, but the overall excitement and satisfaction you can derive from one of these roles can make it a truly rewarding endeavor. Submit an application and become part of the NIRSA Championship Series family today!
