The Esports Advisory Council was formed in November 2020 and will help keep the NIRSA discussions in the Esports Community on Connect vibrant, relevant, and organized. Council members will also continue to stay in touch with new and emerging trends in esports. The council includes the following NIRSA members:
- David Kirk, Esports Program Director, Illinois State University
- Cybbi Barton, Program Manager – Club Sports & Esports, University of Michigan
- Antonio Gonzalez, Assistant Director, Sports Programs and Outdoor Facilities, University of South Florida
- Joni Richardson, Programmer, Intramural/Outdoor Recreation, University of Victoria
The advisory council facilitated an Ideas in Motion Roundtable on January 20—if you missed it, you can still register and access the recording by viewing the past sessions on the Ideas in Motion webpage. They are also scheduled to present an educational session for the upcoming 2021 NIRSA Virtual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo.
The Esports Advisory Council will continue to make recommendations and keep the Association up to date by providing key information and materials about the esports industry. Members are encouraged to share their best practices and resources via the Esports Community on Connect as well as find the resources that were created last year by the Esports Task Force.
