In early May, ten NIRSA members were invited to be part of a work team to produce a set of reopening considerations for campus recreation professionals and their communities. The goal of the work team was to organize information surfaced through various sources into a framework for reopening considerations, identify and fill any gaps in materials, and share their findings with members.
Their accelerated work resulted in NIRSA’s Reopening Considerations: A Framework for Campus Rec, which is intended to guide campus recreation departments through questions and considerations to explore as they develop or refine their own reopening guidelines for their respective campuses.
About the framework
The framework is divided into five sections: Communications, People, Facilities, Programs, and Financial. It also includes an introduction and provides reference details for the more than 25 resources used in developing the framework.
In addition to the framework and references, four members of the reopening work group, have shared their “work in progress” reopening plans to be used as examples for campus recreation professionals to consult when developing/refining their own institutional plans.
Connect with colleagues about reopening
If you are interested in knowing how these considerations came together, or how to use them to develop or refine your own reopening plans, members of the Reopening Work Team will share their strategies through an Ideas in Motion Roundtable on Tuesday, June 30.
