Join us in Brookfield, Wisconsin for the 2018 NIRSA Intramural Sports Institute, which kicks off on June 20. The institute committee has put together some amazing opportunities you won’t want to pass up!

One great opportunity is the “Train the Trainer” preconference workshop, which will teach you even more about training officials on your campus. The session will cover qualities to look for in officials, how to run trainings for various staffing structures, utilizing evaluation to continue development, and a number of different training methods. You’ll also have the option to select two specific training sessions to attend in either basketball, flag football, soccer, or volleyball. Please note that you can add the precon to your registration if you’ve already signed up. All you have to do is go through the registration process again and add the precon to your cart. If you have any trouble or questions, please reach out to NIRSA Billing Coordinator Rachel Hart.

There will also be an informal social at Miller Park to watch the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers! The game will take place on Thursday June 21 at 7:10pm local time. NIRSA was able to reserve a block of seats for attendees to purchase on their own but which will allow them to sit together as a group. Transportation will not be provided but there are several ways to connect with other attendees to carpool via the GroupMe app, NIRSA Connect, and the Guidebook app. Hurry though, you need to purchase your tickets by June 7!

Of course, the institute is the place to be for the best and most comprehensive source of intramural content. Jonathan Johnston, Associate Director of Programs and Staff Development at Texas A&M University-Commerce, explains his reason for attending this year’s event by saying, “I’m excited about the Intramural Sport Institute because it provides a deeper connection to our passion and with our fellow colleagues. This year’s theme ‘Growing together through intentionality and purpose’ is crucial today and in the future as we continue to tell our story of how we impact our campus communities.”

And don’t forget to book your hotel room at the host hotel! Rooms in the NIRSA room block are limited and need to be reserved before June 1! We hope to see you in Brookfield!
