Meg Rapp, an architect associate at Populous, Inc, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the 2016 NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute presented by Mondo! This institute will take place from October 19-21 in Tempe, Arizona and registration is now open.
Meg’s varied project experience provides a unique perspective on architecture, allowing her to draw upon an understanding of multiple project types and sizes. With projects on three continents, ranging from athletics and recreation facilities to healthcare and mixed-use development, Meg approaches projects from multiple scales and seeks to provide well-rounded design solutions.
Todd Hammonds, Associate Director of Facilities & Operations at the University of California-Santa Cruz and Recreation Facilities Institute Committee member, says, “Meg embodies the culture of campus recreation through her work and play.” He wants members to know that she is “a two-time Ironman finisher, six-time marathon finisher, four-time Ironman 70.3 finisher, and a 50K ultramarathon finisher.”
A Colorado native with a passion for endurance sports, Meg enjoys the active lifestyle the Front Range has to offer and recognizes its impact on the built environment. Meg shares her love of architecture by volunteering with several organizations to teach children and young adults about the importance of architecture and the built environment. She is also involved in youth sports programs that foster confidence and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
As the keynote speaker for the 2016 NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute, Meg’s presentation will feature an overview of the past, present, and possible future trends in sustainability as it pertains to campus recreation and within the realm of facility planning, design, and construction.
