The NIRSA Annual Conference is the premier event for those in the collegiate recreation field to pursue both professional development and networking. You don’t want to let the cost of registration be a road block on your way to this fantastic opportunity!

With this in mind, the NIRSA Foundation—which is committed to investing in the personal and professional development of all NIRSA members—is increasing the number of scholarships it offers to both student and professional members. There are 34 student scholarships and 13 professional scholarships available this year. Applications for each will be due by midnight on Tuesday, November 17.

Foundation scholarships are funded—through past and ongoing contributions to the NIRSA Foundation—by the generosity of many NIRSA professional, associate, and student members, as well as thanks to corporate partners and other friends of collegiate recreation. Scholarship information, guidelines, and eligibility requirements for student and professional members can be found on the NIRSA website.

NIRSA Foundation scholarships can be used to attend the 2016 NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Expo—which is being held from April 3–6 in Kissimmee, Florida—or other NIRSA educational opportunities. For example, if you already have funds available for NIRSA 2016, Foundation scholarships can be used to attend events like the NIRSA Recreational Facilities Institute or the NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation. Whatever your plans and goals, let a NIRSA Foundation scholarship help you get you where you want to be!

Student Scholarships

The 34 available student scholarships can be used to cover the cost of event registration for NIRSA 2016. Additionally, up to 30 scholarships will be also be awarded for students to attend the 2016 J. Michael Dunn Student Professional Development Workshop. This workshop is an all-day preconference event held on April 3 and the related scholarship does not cover the cost of NIRSA 2016 registration.

Professional Scholarships

The majority of the available thirteen NIRSA professional member scholarships can be used to attend the 2016 NIRSA Annual Conference. The scholarships cover the cost of registration. Other opportunities they can be used for include the NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation, the NIRSA Recreational Facilities Institute, the NIRSA Intramural Sports Institute, and 2016 NIRSA Annual Conference preconference workshops.

The number of scholarships available for professionals to attend the 2016 J. Michael Dunn Preconference Workshop on April 3 will be determined at a later date and communicated on the NIRSA website. Those scholarships will not cover the cost of NIRSA 2016 registration. Detailed information on each scholarship can be found on the NIRSA website.

The deadline to submit an application for a NIRSA Foundation scholarship is Tuesday, November 17 by midnight PST—apply today! Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Monday, January 4.
