The NIRSA Championship Series is thrilled to announce that the Ohio State University will host the National Basketball Championships from 2016-2018!

“As one of the first schools to start a recreation program on their campus, and a historically strong participant in NIRSA’s Championship Series, we could not be happier to host the national tournament,” says Don Stenta, Recreation Sports Director at Ohio State. “The long term vision for our facilities has always included hosting events of this stature. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase all that Ohio State and Columbus, Ohio, has to offer.”

NIRSA Championship Series events offer high-level competition.

North Carolina State has played host to the National Basketball Championships for the past two years, so getting ready to move the event from the old host site to the new one is going to be top priority for the NIRSA Basketball Work Team. The Work Team, according to Chair Aaron Hobson, “will work closely with both OSU and NC State to ensure a seamless transition between the two. OSU’s professional staff is committed to providing a top-notch tournament to continue the high caliber of events offered by North Carolina State University.”

Hobson points out that “Ohio State has a rich history of hosting premiere regional and national tournaments. The university’s rich culture, impressive facilities, and veteran staff combine to make an ideal location for the future of the NIRSA National Basketball Championships.”

Participants and spectators alike should be excited to set their sights on Columbus!
