As college and university students develop into future leaders, NIRSA members support their learning and growth by fostering lifelong habits of wellbeing.

And NIRSA’s championship intramurals and sport club tournaments are a valuable vehicle for fostering that learning and growth.

Distinguished by a commitment to camaraderie, leadership, teamwork, dedication, and respect, NIRSA’s championship tournaments provide unique platforms for student and professional development at all levels of participation—player, programming staff, official, volunteer, or fan.

Introducing the new NIRSA Championship Series.

For the last eight years, NIRSA’s tournaments evolved under umbrella of the NIRSA National Campus Championship Series, or NIRSA NCCS. But, as the NIRSA Board of Directors, NIRSA Services Corporation Board of Directors, and NIRSA Foundation Board of Directors made progress toward aligning the overall strategy and brand for the Association, it became apparent that NIRSA had an opportunity to better articulate the shared values of our members and our tournaments. For many who were not closely associated with NIRSA, the NCCS acronym didn’t easily connect the strengths, values, and mission of NIRSA with these first-rate tournaments. Moreover, the inclusion of National in the old NIRSA National Campus Championship Series no longer reflects the diverse origin of teams from all across the globe who have participated in NIRSA’s championship tournament, nor was it consistent with our recently articulated strategic value of Global Perspectives.

So, beginning with the flag football tournaments this fall, NIRSA’s future flag football, basketball, soccer, and tennis championship tournaments will be promoted under the new, straightforward name of the NIRSA Championship Series.

The committees and work teams who are charged with bringing top-notch events to our members are working at a fever pitch to prepare the 2013-2014 championships; we hope to see a team, official, staff member, or volunteer from your school in the coming year.
