The Scholarship and Travel Grants Committee is responsible for reviewing applications and awarding scholarships and travel grants based on criteria approved by the NIRSA Foundation Board of Directors. To ensure the success of the scholarship process (application, evaluation, and selection), this committee reviews the selection process annually and makes recommendations to the NIRSA Foundation Board of Directors as needed.
Requirements
Current NIRSA professional, professional life, or emeritus membership is required for the duration of the committee term. Volunteers should be willing to evaluate applications based on established criteria. They must maintain the privacy of all application materials. Additionally, the ability to provide constructive and clear feedback is essential for this role.
Time Commitment
The committee will be required to attend a one hour introductory/training meeting in October/November. They will also be required to participate in a one hour debrief meeting held in February. Committee members will spend a significant amount of time reviewing NIRSA Conference applications in a two-tiered process. The review period is generally from November through January.
Term Length
Committee terms are one year.
