Currently in its 18th edition, the NIRSA Flag & Touch Football Rules Book & Officials’ Manual offers recreation professionals, officials, and players alike an invaluable resource for teaching flag and touch football.
Host site applications for 2017 NIRSA Regional Flag Football Championships are now available. NIRSA member institutions interested in hosting are encouraged to submit an online application!
The 2016 NIRSA Championship Series Flag Football Championships, hosted by UWF, were held in Pensacola, FL from January 6–8. Sixty-seven teams went head-to-head in the panhandle for their opportunity to be crowned a NIRSA Champion.
The NIRSA Championship Series will kick off the new year on Friday, January 6, with the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships at Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Florida.
NIRSA Championship Series flag football has started up once again. Following the regional tournaments, the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships will take place in Pensacola, Florida from January 6–8.
Help us continue the tradition of dedicating the NIRSA Flag Football Rules Book to a person who has played a pivotal role in the development of flag football.
Having championed the phrase “It’s more than competition,” the NIRSA Championship Series produces events known not only for their outstanding student athlete performance but also for the development opportunities they provide student officials and professional staff.
NIRSA and Human Kinetics will continue to produce and sell flag football materials—including the Rules Book and Officials’ Manual, clinician kit, and online course—but have discontinued the program to offer clinician kits in other sports.
Eleven sites have been selected to serve as regional hosts for the 2016 NIRSA Championship Series flag football season. It may not officially kick off until the fall, but now is still the perfect time to start planning how your institution can get in the NIRSA Championship Series game!

It was 10 years ago on June 27, 2006 that 13 NIRSA members gathered in the NIRSA Headquarters conference room for the summit that would result in the creation of the NIRSA Championship Series’ guiding principles. Those principles still serve as the framework of the Series.
