In today’s heightened political environment, policy changes are made quickly and with little communication from policy decision makers. It's critical to the success of higher education and NIRSA to be proactive regarding these policies.
"Staying informed on current local, state, and federal legislation is extremely important for all NIRSA members," explains Andrew Chadick, Senior Associate Director of Programming and Assessment for University of Texas at San Antonio Campus Recreation.
Even the smallest law can have major ramifications, and it’s my goal to help my colleagues understand what issues are out there. This way, they can be better prepared to anticipate issues.

The NIRSA Government Affairs Committee has been reconstituted from the former NIRSA Policy and Legislation Committee; the committee was evolved to better meet the needs of the Association.
