What is the NIRSA Research Advisement Work Team?

NIRSA supports research in the field of collegiate recreation to elucidate its impact on students, professionals and the campus community. The purpose of the NIRSA Research Advisement Work Team is to assist NIRSA professional and student members as well as other NIRSA committees in initiating research projects, evaluating methods or simply recommending best assessment practices.  Services provided by the Work Team are not intended to replace or supersede institutional or academic advisement, nor are they intended to be comprehensive in nature.

How does a consultation work?

Complete the request form, and you will be contacted by a representative from the NIRSA Research Advisement Work Team within one week. The representative will conduct a brief interview to ensure the work team can be of assistance in your current or future research or assessment project.

What services will the work team provide?

  • Identifying/clarifying a salient research topic

  • Aligning research goals with the NIRSA research agenda

  • Refining research questions, aims, and hypotheses

  • Identifying appropriate methods

  • Developing a timeline and budget

  • Accessing NIRSA databases and resources
