2017-2018 NIRSA Foundation Travel Stipend Committee Charges

Description: The Stipend Committee is responsible for reviewing applications and awarding travel stipends annually to professional members. The program is provided through a corporate sponsorship.

  • Committee Structure: The committee consists of one professional from each region receiving a stipend plus one chair. Selection to this committee will allow the opportunity for the NIRSA Foundation Board to engage donors or potential donors in high-level NIRSA Foundation work. The Board Liaison shall share names of individuals to the NIRSA Foundation Board President for selection upon reviewing the NIRSA committee preference submittals.
  • Time Commitment: Committee members will spend a significant amount of time immediately following the deadline to review applications. Additional time is spent for stipend introduction training, review processing and post-stipend award for debriefing.

2017-2018 Charges:

  1. Review stipend application processes and rating systems (summer).
  2. Coordinate with NIRSA HQ to set up online application and web content on stipend availability.
  3. Review submitted stipend applications (fall).
  4. Make recommendation for travel award recipients (fall).
  5. Review process and provide content for a scholarship and stipend manual.
  6. Provide feedback to share with the Board liaison on concerns of the application criteria to better enhance the program.
