NIRSA Research & Assessment Award

Nominate an individual or group of professionals or graduate students who have achieved great success in research or assessment and who are passionate about the advancement of the collegiate recreation profession.

This award recognizes NIRSA members who have made extraordinary contributions towards advancing research and assessment initiatives on their campus and/or for NIRSA. The award is based on significant personal advocacy, development, or implementation of assessment efforts.

Recipients will be announced at the NIRSA Annual Conference and Campus Rec & Wellness Exposition with a plaque.

Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination, the candidate(s) should meet all of the following criteria:

  • Hold current membership in NIRSA
  • Must be a graduate student (masters or doctoral level) or college/university staff or faculty
  • NIRSA Research and Assessment Committee Members are eligible for the awards, but Committee Members are not eligible to self-nominate

Award Nomination Procedure

Colleague Nomination Process

Each colleague nomination must include the following:

  • Nominator’s information (first and last name, email, title of position, institution, city, state)
  • Candidate information, including lead and contributing researchers if applicable (first and last name, email, title of position, institution, city, state)
  • Confirmation that the candidate(s) are NIRSA members and graduate student(s) (master’s or doctoral level) or are currently college/university faculty or staff
  • Resume(s)/vitae, abstract of research/assessment project, and personal statement. The additional items will assist the selection committee in understanding the research/assessment project and to learn about the award nominee(s)’ research initiatives.

Self-Nomination Process

Each self-nomination will include the following:

  • Nominator’s information (first and last name, email, title of position, institution, city, state)
  • Candidate information, including lead and contributing researchers if applicable (first and last name, email, title of position, institution, city, state)
  • Confirmation that the candidate(s) are NIRSA members and graduate student(s) (master’s or doctoral level) or are currently college/university faculty or staff
  • Provide the committee with resume(s)/vitae, abstract of research/assessment project, candidate(s)’ philosophy of research in collegiate recreation, and a personal statement. The additional items will assist the selection committee in understanding the research/assessment project and to learn about the award nominee(s)’ research initiatives.
