NIRSA and Riddle & Bloom are proud to announce that the 2020 Recreation Movement—which launched on April 4 and ends August 16—is being revamped! This virtual program will launch anew on Monday, August 31 as the Fall Recreation Movement.

The original 2020 Recreation Movement far surpassed its goal of having 45 participating universities. The program is closing out with over 110 participating institutions and more than 14,000 individual users logging minutes and taking part in the online offerings!

In July, NIRSA polled participating schools to get a sense of whether the program was of value as the fall semester approaches. The answer was overwhelmingly “yes.” Many schools are still unsure whether their campus recreation facilities will reopen and, subsequently, which programs they’ll be able to offer their students, staff, and faculty. Considering all of this, the Recreation Movement platform fills an immense need.

Over the last four and a half months, participants have logged almost 3 million minutes of movement in a myriad of ways. From hiking to taking advantage of online fitness classes, the movement has embraced its mantra, “Staying connected while apart through fitness.” With several hundreds of prerecorded classes available on-demand—as well as the ability to feel connected to thousands of other participants across the country—the Recreation Movement has proven it is vital to campus recreation departments that are all about promoting physical wellbeing for the sake of student success.

If your campus would like to participate in the Fall 2020 Recreation Movement, please fill out the interest form!
