Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 NIRSA Intramural & Sport Club Institute has been rescheduled for June 29–July 1, 2021. The event will still take place at the University of Vermont. The difficult decision to reschedule this event was reached after careful consideration of the recommendations from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), state and federal governmental agencies, as well as the significant travel restrictions in place for employees of many college and university campuses.

All registrants of the 2020 event have been contacted and provided options for either securing a refund or for applying registration fees to the 2021 Institute. We’re as disappointed as you that we’ll be unable to get together this summer and participate in this newly envisioned event combining tracks from intramurals and club sports, and which will highlight the experiences of managers who supervise those areas. As disappointed as we are at not being able to gather together this summer, we are very excited for the opportunity to offer the institute in 2021!

So much has changed in such a short time as our profession navigates the challenges of this new reality with COVID-19. NIRSA will continue to find ways to connect and provide resources to our members. You can stay connected to your colleagues during the pandemic by utilizing the NIRSA Connect platform—which allows our members to share discussions and resources—and by following NIRSA social media channels to receive association updates, see what your colleagues are up to, and of course to get all the latest greatest hashtags. NIRSA also continues to add to our portfolio of virtual learning opportunities, including the ”Ideas in Motion” virtual roundtables series. There’s more to look forward to in the coming months!

A big thank you to the Intramural & Sport Club Institute Committee, which has already put so much thought and planning into the inaugural Intramural and Sport Club Institute! We’ll continue to provide more information as we receive it, but we hope you’ll mark your calendar and plan to join us at the end of June 2021 in Vermont—it’s going to be great!
