NIRSA is very excited to be hosting its 2020 Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo in the great city of Phoenix, Arizona! While NIRSA’s primary focus is offering the highest quality education and networking experiences, it also tries its best to be in locations that offers attendees opportunities to get out and experience something new, fun, and memorable. Phoenix provides all that and more.

Phoenix offers so much that there really is something for everyone. For those connoisseurs of delicious gastronomic delights, and folks who watch a lot of—or probably too much—Food Network (yours truly included), Phoenix is a great place to be. The city has a vibrant restaurant scene that is worth exploring—most notably, its Southwestern and Mexican offerings. Also, thanks to the folks at VisitPhoenix, you can check out this fun list of restaurants that have been featured on the hit shows Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Cupcake Wars, Ginormous Food, and 50 States, 50 Pizzas. You’ve worked hard this past year. You, and your palate, deserve this.

Roosevelt Row is great for those interested in exciting street art, boutique shops, and art galleries. While also containing great restaurants and bars, it’s known as the city’s walkable arts district. One of the best ways to experience local culture, in a short amount of time, is to check out its local art and artists.

The CityScape area is a great place for dining and nightlife. It’s home to the comedy club Stand Up Live, upscale bowling and arcades at Lucky Strike, as well as live music at Cooper Blues. Or, if you get that shopping itch, it’s also home to many fashion retailers.

Also, there are other exciting events within walking distance of the convention center! Here are several options for you to check out before or after conference hours:

Oh, if you have extra time before or after the event, you could always check out the Grand Canyon. As one of the seven natural wonders of the world, it’s kind of a big deal.

Join us at the 2020 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo for not only the best in collegiate recreation education and networking, but also to experience a great city and have some fun while you’re at it. Register today and book your hotel room before the NIRSA room block runs out!
