It seems like the 2019 NIRSA National Soccer Championships just ended, but it’s time to start planning for the 2020 NIRSA National Soccer Championships and regional play. This year, there will be four positions open in the leadership pipeline. Applications are open! The following positions need to be filled for the 2020 season.

Assistant Director of Competition

The Assistant Director of Competition will serve alongside the co-directors in 2020 before transitioning into the position of Co-Director of Competition in 2021.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Working with the regional coordinators for ranking, regional tournaments, and national tournament bids
  • Assisting with tournament scheduling
  • Assisting with team seeding for the national championship
  • Attending the national tournament from November 19–21
  • Providing post-event and regional evaluations

Assistant Director of Operations

Th Assistant Director of Operations will serve alongside the Director of Operations during the 2020 NIRSA National Soccer Championships.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Assist in contacting local vendors to schedule, plan, and provide all meals provided for NIRSA staff and officials
  • Assist in preparation of all logistical needs for the tournament
  • Work with host site to secure emergency action plan for facility and educate all event staff to standard operating procedures
  • Act as the liaison between NIRSA and host site staff for all logistics and tournament needs to ensure host site policies are enforced

Assistant Director of Unified Division

The Assistant Director of Unified Division will serve alongside the Unified Director in 2020 before transitioning into the position of Unified Director in 2021.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Director of Unified with player eligibility, team selection, and registration for National Soccer Tournament
  • Assist in reviewing and updating Unified Division rules to be a fair and consistent blend of NIRSA and Special Olympics soccer rules
  • Oversee the responsibilities of the All-Tournament Committee during Unified Division games; serve as All-Tournament Chair as necessary
  • Monitor and assist with any tournament disputes, protests, or questions in regards to the Unified Division

Assistant Director of Student Officials Unified Division

The Assistant Director of Student Officials Unified Division will serve alongside the Director of Student Officials’ Development in 2020 before transitioning into the position of Director of Student Officials’ Development in 2021.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Recruit student officials to work the tournament
  • Provide training, evaluation, and feedback for student officials that is consistent with the highest standards of officiating and of NIRSA Championship Series principles of professional development
  • Schedule officials throughout the tournament
  • Assist in the coordination of travel for selected officials
