The 2019 NIRSA National Soccer Championships start next week with one hundred teams coming from around the country to compete in one of the five divisions we have this year. As we make our way to the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas, the excitement is building and we’re looking forward to a great tournament at a new location. Games kick off on Thursday, November 21 at 8:00am and conclude on November 23 with five newly-crowned champions!

Our five divisions this year include the Men’s Championship, Men’s Open, Women’s Championship, Women’s Open, and the newly-added Unified Division. Each of these divisions will have pool play and bracket play, and they will crown a champion on Saturday, November 23. Interested in watching the championship games? The tournament’s co-directors of competition are Danny Feitel, Associate Director at the University of California-Merced, and Chris McAlpine, Associate Director of Facility operations at The University of Texas at Dallas. Both have worked diligently with regional coordinators to complete the weekend of competitive and intense regional qualifying events and prepare the seeding for the national tournament. The soccer tournament has welcomed Amanda Alpert, Associate Director of Programs at the University of Mississippi, and Nick Singer, Assistant Director of Competitive Sports at Vanderbilt University, this year. They are our Director of Unified and Director of Student Officials respectively—both are new positions at the national soccer tournament this year as we welcome the four Unified teams to the tournament.

Everyone is excited to have the national soccer tournament right around the corner! We can’t wait to watch how the tournament unfolds. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram or check out the NIRSA Play Blog to get all the latest updates on all teams and divisions during the tournament!
