How would you have liked to be published in an industry-leading magazine as you started down your career path into campus recreation? It would have been quite a statement piece to put in your portfolio as you searched for your first professional job in campus recreation or for a graduate assistantship.

Well, that’s exactly what NIRSA and Athletic Business are offering your students today! Eligible students have until Friday, October 18 to submit an article about their experience working for their institution’s campus rec department, the impacts of recreational programming on the student body, or the future of collegiate recreation.

Eight students will be selected to have their articles published in a standard issue of Athletic Business Magazine, which has a print circulation audience of more than 40,000, in 2020. As contributors to Athletic Business Magazine, students will receive ten complimentary copies of the issue with their published article along with a contributor fee of $200, among other benefits.

One student will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to NIRSA 2020 (April 18–21 in Phoenix), including airfare, lodging, and conference registration.

Share this opportunity with your students

Marketing resources to share this opportunity through email and social channels are available on the Athletic Business website.

Directors and other professionals, graduate assistants, and graduating seniors working in recreation are encouraged to share this opportunity with student-employee colleagues who anticipate graduating between December 2020 and May 2021 and who are looking to stay within the industry after graduating.

Additional student opportunities

This is a fantastic opportunity to give your outstanding student employees a chance to shine on a national stage. It’s also a great opportunity for one student to get to NIRSA 2020 in Phoenix! As always, additional opportunities for funding will be available for students and professionals through NIRSA Foundation scholarships and awards beginning in October.
