There are just seven days left to apply for NIRSA Foundation scholarships and stipends! The application deadline is Tuesday, October 17.

For 2018, there are 43 student and 19 professional scholarship opportunities, as well as 30 additional student awards for the J. Michael Dunn Preconference Workshop at the 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo. NIRSA Foundation scholarships are available for all NIRSA institutes and events.

Seven professional travel stipends, presented by Core Health & Fitness, are also available for the 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo, the Association’s premier professional development event for campus recreation and wellness students and professionals. A stipend will be awarded to a professional from each NIRSA region—including the new Canadian Region!

New scholarship opportunities for 2018

The NIRSA Foundation Board of Directors is committed to providing NIRSA members with meaningful opportunities for professional development and has approved some exciting new scholarship opportunities for 2018.

The Small Programs Scholarship was developed to support NIRSA’s 2017 Small Programs Initiative and will be awarded to one student and one professional to attend the 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference. The NIRSA Board of Directors designated the Small Programs Initiative as one of its top priorities for 2017, and the NIRSA Foundation is thrilled to play a role in encouraging the participation, development, and inclusion of professionals at the Association’s small program institutions.

The NIRSA Foundation Board also approved the Jesse A. “Tony” Clements Heritage Presenter Scholarship. This new scholarship will be awarded to one student and one young professional (1-10 years as a NIRSA professional member) presenting at the 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference. This scholarship arose from the Legacy Society gift of the late NIRSA giant Tony Clements, who presented at more than 50 NIRSA conferences in his lifetime and specified in his will that he wished to support students and young professionals presenting at annual conference.

The deadline to apply for these and other scholarships and stipend opportunities is Tuesday, October 17!
