With informational sessions, discussion roundtables, and networking opportunities with intramural sports leaders from North America, you’ll find a wealth of fresh ideas and tried-and-true best practices to bring home to your intramural sports organization.
Attendees may earn NIRSA CEUs to apply toward the Registry of Collegiate Recreation Sports Professional (RCRSP) credential.

Randy Fox uses his officiating, leadership, and life experiences in delivering ultra high energy presentations to engage audiences and transform their professional and personal lives. With a twenty-year career as a corporate leader and an accomplished NCAA Basketball Official, Randy has a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective on effective leadership and teamwork.
His focus is team-building and advocating for the potential in all in order to turn everyday people into superstar leaders. His leadership expertise emphasizes interpersonal value systems and productivity, believing that from one the other naturally follows

Train the Trainer Preconference Workshop
Are you looking to enhance the officials training on your campus? Does your campus need additional training in a specific sport? Attend the preconference “Train the Trainer” to learn more about training officials on your campus. The session will cover qualities to look for in officials, running trainings for various staffing structures, utilizing evaluation to continued development, and a number of different training methods. You will have the option to select two specific training session to attend in basketball, flag football, soccer, or volleyball.

Attendees will be exposed to multiply flag football officials’ teaching methods; from on-line training, to use of video, to on-field teaching stations, plus everything in between. This session is designed to help those who train flag football officials. We will review best practices for teaching penalty enforcement, mechanics & positioning, and, different techniques for teaching the rules. Did you know NIRSA has an On-Line Training Module through Human Kinetics? The on-line course is a great compliment to what you currently do, as is the NIRSA Officials Clinician Kit and training DVD. Find out how to best utilize regional & state officials training clinics and workshops. We will also discuss how the NIRSA Championship Series can help you develop and grow your own program. After attending this session you will have everything you need to create your own, customized, training program.
Attendees will learn a variety of methods to effectively train student officials in two-person and three-person soccer mechanics. The workshop will include content for effective and engaging classroom training sessions. Additionally, attendees will be able to experience training stations covering mechanics, positioning, and foul recognition. This majority of this training will be focused on NFHS soccer rules including general offside rules. Finally, this session will provide attendees with resources for improving soccer trainings on their campus as well as an overview of extramural opportunities and advanced training resources for soccer officials.
Attendees will learn the ideal structure for a basketball clinic to efficiently and successfully train student officials for both two-person and three-person officiating systems. The workshop will identify vital information that should be covered in a classroom setting, keeping in mind the various knowledge and skill levels in a given clinic. The workshop will then explore effective stations for positioning and mechanics. Finally, attendees will get resources and materials to assist with the evaluation and ongoing development of a basketball officials’ staff. NFHS rules and mechanics will be taught and emphasized.
The volleyball portion of the pre-con workshop will focus on the basics of officiating volleyball. Topics include in-person training overview, rules, evaluations, points of emphasis, and available resources to utilize.

Single/Double – $149/night + tax
Each Additional Adult – $20/night + tax
Reservations
Attendees can make reservations by calling (262) 782-2900 and requesting the NIRSA rate, or by using NIRSA Reservations link. Reservations need to be made no later than June 1, 2018 to confirm the discounted group rate.
Upon registration, NIRSA encourages all attendees to reserve their hotel accommodations within the NIRSA room block. NIRSA relies on strong room block usage to secure ample meeting space, increase negotiation leverage for future institutes, and offset event expenses.
Roommate matching will become available with the opening of registration.
