The Women’s Leadership Institute provides an experience that addresses current needs specific to women working within the sphere of higher education.

This institute is tailored for women working in a diverse range of higher education positions who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education to learn together and their passion for their fields.

Learning Outcomes

The Women’s Leadership Institute is an experience which provides professional development training on issues that impact women working and serving in the higher education community. Attendees share a passion for higher education and aspire to be senior leaders across the many functional areas on campus.

Leadership development and career positioning continue to be general concerns for women the Women’s Leadership Institute is committed to supporting the development of the next generation of leaders in higher education. Research shows that while the gaps may be narrowing, pay and promotion disparity continue to be problems for women working on campus.

The mission of the Women’s Leadership Institute is to bring women together who represent the diverse communities across institutions of higher education. It provides a special opportunity to learn, not just about leadership skills, but about how other parts of campuses function, what the priorities and challenges facing other schools are, and how to bridge communication gaps that may exist when women in senior leadership positions try to work across campus cultures.

Celebrating its 10th year, the 2015 Women’s Leadership Institute returns to the east coast and Amelia Island, Florida, December 6–9, 2015.

This event continues to provide an experience that addresses current needs specific to women working within the sphere of higher education.

This unique Institute invites women working in a diverse range of higher education positions—from facilities and operations, and administration to auxiliary services, student affairs, recreation, and libraries—who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education to learn together and their passion for their fields.

The program features a curriculum with an overall focus on building the next generation of leaders in higher education administration and student affairs. The Women’s Leadership Institute offers a wonderful program for women of all ages to come together to learn and network with one another, forming bonds that last a lifetime.
