Partners in Higher Education

20×30
20×30 is a diverse network of people and organizations working together to catalyze action to transform the lives of 20 million students in higher education by 2030 through: improving student wellbeing now to improve their lives for a lifetime; removing health related barriers to learning, academic achievement, and overall student success; closing equity gaps for students who are not thriving; and inspiring and preparing students to become future leaders and engaged citizens who actively build a culture of health and wellbeing for all. NIRSA members can use this network to connect with others and share their ideas at any time by joining an in-person event, webinar, or the online platform.

AORE
The Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) seeks to advance the profession of outdoor recreation and education for programmers, teachers, leaders, and students. Through NIRSA’s partnership with AORE, NIRSA members can attend the AORE National Conference at AORE member rates.

CoHEASAP
The Coalition of Higher Education Associations for Substance Abuse Prevention (CoHEASAP) is a group of organizations who collaborate on substance abuse prevention efforts within the higher education community, including National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.

CAS
The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) promotes standards in student affairs, student services, and student development programs. Since 1981, NIRSA has worked with CAS to ensure the voice of collegiate recreation is at the table while these higher education standards are created, revised, and approved.

Campus Pride
Campus Pride supports student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students through the development of resources, programs, and services. The Campus Pride Index and Campus Pride Sports Index are tools used to set a benchmarking standard of LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs, and practices.

CHEMA
Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA) is a voluntary assembly of management-oriented higher education associations throughout the US and Canada, which forms a peer group through which members can share information, compare experiences, and work collectively on projects of shared interest. HEASC
The Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC) is an informal network of higher education associations with a commitment to advancing sustainability within their constituencies and within the system of higher education itself.

IASAS
The International Association of Student Affairs and Services (IASAS) is a worldwide association of university professionals working in student services. Based in Brussels, IASAS works to consolidate and share knowledge from professionals across 75 countries who work with students through residential services, study support, sport, and cultural activities.

SAHEC
The Student Affairs in Higher Education Consortium (SAHEC), a CHEMA subgroup, promotes the understanding of learning and development as intertwined, inseparable elements of the college student experience. The Learning Reconsidered resources are SAHEC efforts.
Partners in Our Strategic Values

American Council on Exercise
The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is a nonprofit fitness certification, education, and training provider. Their mission is to get people moving, believing in the ability of fitness to achieve long-term healthy change in the communities worldwide. NIRSA is represented on ACE’s Industry Advisory Panel, which brings together experts from diverse areas of the fitness industry to discuss trends, opportunities, and initiatives. The group helps provide future direction to ACE as it carries out its mission.

Active Minds
Active Minds empowers students to change the perception about mental health on college campuses. Annually, they present the Active Minds Healthy Campus Awards, which recognizes and celebrates U.S. colleges and universities that are promoting student mental health and creating a campus culture of well-being. NIRSA facilitates matching members with the opportunity to serve as judges for this award that so readily exemplifies our values.

Consortium on Government Relations for Student Affairs
The consortium is a group of organizations that interprets and reviews legislation of significance to students and member organizations and enables member associations to collectively accomplish several public policy tasks. This consortium, made up of a subset of Student Affairs in Higher Education Consortium (SAHEC) members, works with Active Policy Solutions (APS) to provide members with education and resources, such as the Policy Pages series.

LGBT Sports Coalition
The LGBT Sports Coalition is committed to creating a sports world where LGBT people can participate openly and fully without discrimination.

The NASPA Assessment & Knowledge Consortium
The NASPA Assessment & Knowledge Consortium is a collection of assessment instruments designed to provide colleges and universities with actionable campus-specific and benchmarking data to shape and enhance programming inside and outside the classroom.

NCPAA
The National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) is a diverse blend of associations, health organizations, and private corporations advocating for policies that encourage Americans of all ages to become more physically active.

Partnership for a Healthier America
The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), formed in conjunction with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Campaign, aims to get America’s youth healthy. Recognizing the importance of the college experience in forming lifelong habits for students, PHA also began the Healthier Campus Initiative. NIRSA was instrumental in the early thought leadership that led to this initiative’s guidelines. A significant number of NIRSA member institutions participate, and representatives from NIRSA and PHA frequently attend each other’s annual conferences.

Special Olympics Unified Sports
For years, NIRSA member institutions have been partnering with Special Olympics to host Special Olympics Unified Sports, and many of those teams have had the opportunity to compete on a national stage through the NIRSA Championship Series. In 2015, NIRSA and Special Olympics announced a partnership aimed at expanding these programs and opportunities to even more NIRSA colleges and universities. Both organizations seek to use the platform of sport to foster the inclusion and acceptance of all people.
