Every year, the NIRSA Foundation Board of Directors celebrates an outstanding individual who has significantly impacted the future of our profession. This individual also champions the spirit and excellence that is the NIRSA family by being conferred the NIRSA Foundation Leadership Award.
The inaugural NIRSA Foundation Leadership Award was presented at the 2013 NIRSA Conference to recognize individuals who have made exceptional contributions of time, talent, and resources to the NIRSA Foundation and its mission over an extended period. This award honors those who have actively supported the field of campus recreation through their leadership and involvement in NIRSA Foundation programs.
The Foundation Leadership Award recipient will be a current NIRSA member who exemplifies the standards of ethical behavior, consistent with the NIRSA Member Code of Ethics, and who has qualifications within several of the following areas:
- Contributed significant time, talent, and resources to advance the Foundation’s mission over a sustained period of time
- Provided outstanding volunteer service to the NIRSA Foundation
- Championed one or more of the Foundation’s mission-driven initiatives (i.e. Health & Wellbeing; Research; Student Officials Development; Inclusion and Belonging; Student and Professional Development)
- Enhanced the visibility, awareness, or impact of the NIRSA Foundation
Each year, award recipients are celebrated in a spotlight article, in press releases, in social media posts, and in digital displays throughout the entirety of the annual NIRSA Conference.
