NIRSA, alongside ten other student affairs associations, is hosting an inter-association panel discussion on supporting staff wellness through difficult time. This free virtual event will take place on Monday, December 4 from 3:00pm-4:15pm Eastern/12:00pm-1:15pm Pacific.
The associations came together in dialogue around the many challenges collectively facing our members in the higher education landscape right now, including—but certainly not limited to—legislation being passed in some states targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. This issue, of course, exists alongside issues of staff shortages, retention, and burnout. We expect to host further dialogues around these issues in 2024.
Join us for a moderated panel discussion, Q&A, and brave space to focus on professional staff wellness. What practices, resources, and connections are needed to support ourselves and each other through the current contentious legislative landscape and staffing challenges we are facing?
Speakers include Earl Cabellon, Interim Director of Staff Experience & Culture, Division of Student Affairs at University of Maryland; Shawnté Elbert, Chief Healthy Equity Officer at Columbus Public Health; and D’Najah Thomas, Director of The Placement Exchange.
This virtual event is co-presented by ACHA, ACPA, ACUHO-I, ACUI, AFA, ASCA, NACA, NACE, NASPA, NIRSA, and NODA.
Erin O'Sullivan is currently the Director of Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships at NIRSA.
