The 2023 NIRSA Intramural & Club Sports Institute Committee is excited to announce that Seneca Wilson, Director of Recreation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will be the keynote speaker for the event! The Institute, presented by Fusion, will take place July 11–13 at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Seneca will be presenting “I Wanted You to See the Dream” for attendees.

Seneca is a well-known member of the NIRSA Family who has performed at various NIRSA events over the years. Most recently, he gave a moving spoken-word tribute to NIRSA founder Dr. William Wasson during the Opening General Session at NIRSA 2023.

Seneca is an established speaker with a captivating message who is on a mission to encourage others. Time after time, he has shown himself to be an effective speaker—not only through his powerful presentations, but also through his ability to be very entertaining. He understands that it is essential to establish the right environment and move strategically in the proper direction to obtain success. Seneca believes that it is his obligation and mandate to use every opportunity he is presented with to inspire young people.

He has been on the forefront leading for change for more than a decade. As an advocate for youth, he facilitates, manages, and develops them by providing resources and promoting the skills necessary to overcome adversity. Seneca has overcome many barriers in his life and provides young people with the thought processes required to reach success. He feels right at home in the company of curious minds and ambitious future leaders.

Seneca is also an author! He has published two collections of poetry: Kind of a One and Stairs to the Top. His most recent book, Turn on Your Light: Finding Your Light Within, was released in November 2020. Attendees at the 2023 NIRSA Intramural & Club Sports Institute will have the opportunity to purchase his books and get them signed!
