Athletic Business Media has made the difficult decision to cancel AB Show 2020 and, subsequently, this year’s NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute. This decision was made in consultation with key stakeholders and partners, the Medical Fitness Association, the National Alliance for Youth Sports, and NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation.
“The decision to cancel did not come easily and was ultimately made in the best interest of the health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors, speakers, partners, and staff,” says Shawn Gahagan, Athletic Business President. “The cancellation is also based on guidance from public health officials that address the challenges associated with holding large gatherings, as well as the increasing number of organizations and states that have travel restrictions in place,” adds Sue Searls, Show Director.
“We’re disappointed that we won’t be able to gather in person this year to discuss the latest trends and best practices in facility management, operations, planning, and design,” says Brittany Rejda, NIRSA Assistant Director of Professional Development. “However, we look forward to the 2021 NIRSA Triventure, which will take place in partnership with Athletic Business next year.”
On behalf of Athletic Business, MFA, NAYS, and NIRSA, we thank our attendees, exhibitors, and speakers for your patience, loyalty, and partnership as we move through these challenging times together.
Please stay healthy and safe. We cannot wait to see you in San Antonio, October 27-30, 2021 for next year’s AB Show and the 2021 NIRSA Triventure.
