NIRSA and Athletic Business are excited to announce a new and exciting development in our continuing partnership! The 2020 NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute, sponsored by Mondo, will be integrated into the AB Show, November 3–6, in Baltimore, Maryland.

“This new agreement to hold one of our Association’s signature learning opportunities in conjunction with a top-tier industry-event in the AB Show is exciting for our members because it will give them a chance to see themselves as part of a bigger picture and experience high-quality learning opportunities in conjunction with a facilities conference,” says NIRSA President Leah Hall Dorothy, PhD, Executive Director of Recreational Sports at Oregon State University. “Athletic Business has been a tremendous partner to the Association and their reputation for exceptional event management is well earned. Combined with the outstanding quality of educational sessions and amazing facility tours that have become synonymous with the NIRSA Facilities Institute, we think 2020 attendees will get tremendous value from this new and accessible learning format,” she adds.

NIRSA has long been committed to developing timely, relevant, and accessible learning opportunities for those working in collegiate recreation. Partnering the Facilities Institute with the AB Show is going to open up a number of opportunities for all attendees. These include access to more educational sessions, a bigger expo, higher-profile keynote speakers, and fewer scheduling conflicts for campus recreation professionals during the busy fall schedule. Being a part of a larger event also means that we can extend the NIRSA network and engage with other sectors of the broader athletic business industry.

“Bringing the NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute in as a partner with the AB Show is another positive development in the Athletic Business/NIRSA relationship. The entire AB Show team is excited to work closely with the NIRSA team to help bring more educational opportunities, speakers, product exposure, events and tours to NIRSA members,” says Shawn Gahagan, President of Athletic Business. “This partnership will help bring college recreation even more to the forefront of the AB Show. The AB Show continues to grow, and with effective partners like NIRSA, our event will continue to be the destination fall show for college recreation, along with athletic and fitness professionals.”
