Hosting a NIRSA Championship Series event might require both time and resources, but it’s also an incredibly rewarding experience that comes with some great benefits. Being a tournament host gives your community an economic boost, is a chance to show off your school, and brings positive attention to your institution which can attract potential graduate assistants. Plus, fundraising through sponsorships, in-kind donations, and entry-fees is a fantastic way to offset costs. Host site applications for 2019 NIRSA regional basketball championships are now open and NIRSA member institutions interested in hosting are encouraged to submit an online application!
“Hosting a tournament is a very rewarding experience for professional staff, students, and the overall university who hosts,” says Megan Morris, Director of Campus Recreation at Loyola University Chicago and NIRSA Championship Series Basketball Work Team Chair. “It is a chance to showcase a school’s ability to put on a large scale regional event, host officials, teams and volunteers from various schools and to support NIRSA in a unique way. The Champ Series is always on the lookout for sites that will provide a world class tournament experience for all those involved and are here to help each site succeed with resources and dedicated recreation professionals to assist in ensuring a successful event.”
Don’t miss out on this great chance to host a regional championship! The deadline to submit a host site application is Friday, June 8—submit one today.
