At NIRSA, we are committed to listening to our members and our highest priority is creating the kinds of opportunities they feel will be useful for their work and for the profession. When Association leaders heard from directors that they wanted a chance to get in a room together to discuss challenges and emerging trends in campus recreation and higher education, volunteer leaders and NIRSA HQ staff got to work creating the NIRSA Directors Institute.

We are pleased to announce that this premier educational and networking retreat for campus recreation directors and chief administrators will take place June 25–27, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona!

The program will be developed by four respected leaders from the field: David Bowles, University of Florida; Laurie Braden, Louisiana State University; Deb Johnson, UC Davis; and André Love, University of Alabama. Drawing on NIRSA’s deep relationships with other higher education associations and a holistic approach to inclusive content, the NIRSA Directors Institute will offer unparalleled opportunities for connecting with peers and high-level representatives from industry-leading companies that view campus recreation and wellness as an important part of their target market.

The overall schedule will include an opening reception followed by two days full of collaborative presentations, small and large group discussions, and group networking events and activities at the lovely Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. With member-driven content, this will be an amazing opportunity to engage in a dialogue about key issues and challenges with representatives from a diverse range of programs. Prospective attendees can also suggest topics and trends for discussion.

Registration for the institute will open at 9:00am Pacific Time on Wednesday, December 13. To create a more intimate dialogue between attendees, registration will be capped at 60 people—so be sure to save the date! Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible attendees are typically recognized as the leader of their school’s department of campus recreation—the individuals responsible for a comprehensive portfolio of programs, personnel, and facilities and ultimately accountable for all things that occur under the campus recreation umbrella.
