Deadlines are just around the corner! The 2018 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo will take place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from March 4–7. NIRSA 2018 will deliver competency-based education for those working in the field of collegiate recreation. The Annual Conference Program Committee is seeking proposals that are transformative learning experiences and that align with the conference theme “Elevate Your Path.”

NIRSA 2018 offers a variety of learning formats for presenters to deliver relevant and engaging content to membership. In addition to the topic areas outlined in the Prospective Presenter Guide, the Program Committee is particularly interested in proposals that inspire attendees to get back to their campuses ready to take their programs and their talent to the next level.

For example, have you had success designing a student employee experience that helps students be career-ready? Or preparing full-time staff for advancement in the field? If so, consider sharing your story and best practices at NIRSA 2018! The deadline to submit proposals for education sessions and roundtables is Monday, June 26.

Preconference opportunities

If you need more than 60 minutes to deliver your content, preconference proposals—due Monday, June 19—are a great way to offer in-depth, skill-building experiences. Preconference programs should provide:

  • An enhanced and in-depth exploration as opposed to a general overview
  • Offer distinct learning objectives with gained practical knowledge
  • Include an interactive or hands-on learning experience
  • Preconference program proposals that offer certification/re-certification opportunities are also welcomed.

Stay tuned to the NIRSA 2018 website for more presentation updates. If you have interesting research or a creative practice to share with colleagues, please consider submitting a proposal!

You can find forms, topic areas, deadlines, and complete guidelines for presentation proposal submissions on the Welcome Presenters webpage of the NIRSA website. And make sure to keep an eye on the NIRSA News and on the #NIRSA2018 hashtag on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all the latest Annual Conference information!
