The 2014 NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute Committee is excited to announce that Clint Menefee of SmithGroup JJR will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Facilities Institute in Houston, Texas from October 21–23!
Clint is a registered architect who has focused his career on the design and construction of recreation centers on university campuses. His recent notable projects include Kansas State University’s Chester E. Peters Recreation Center expansion and renovation, and the award-winning Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation & Wellness Center at Rice University. The latter is one of the facilities that will be toured by this year’s Institute attendees.
“I love being a part of creating healthy lifestyles in our young people,” says Clint. “In a campus setting, students are creating lifelong healthy habits, and architecture can help facilitate that.”
As someone who clearly endorses NIRSA’s strategic values, it’s not surprising that Clint has been invited to participate as a speaker and panelist at several national engagements—among them are the 2013 NIRSA National Conference, the 2011 NIRSA Recreation Facilities Institute, and the 2011 NIRSA Region II and Region IV Conferences.
Outside of his family, Clint is most passionate about fitness, architecture, and creating sustainable communities. What a perfect fit for the 2014 Facilities Institute!
