Note, December 10, 2013: An incorrect deadline was previously published. The correct registration deadline for the 2013 NIRSA Flag Football National Championships is December 12.

Nearly 1,800 student-athletes have wowed us with their dedication, efforts, skills, and sportsmanship during this year’s battle to be crowned flag football national champions. With eleven, hard-fought regional tournaments come and gone, the final regional flag football tournament of the season will take place December 6-8, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at the University of Southern Mississippi. At stake for the winners are the last automatic bids for the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships, hosted by the University of West Florida, January 3-5, 2014.

However, that’s not the only way to get in on the action!

Registration for the NIRSA National Championships remains open and can be accessed via the online registration site.

The deadline to register is December 12; make sure your school’s best teams don’t miss out (with collegiate and open divisions, there are options for men’s, women’s, and co-rec teams)!

2013 Women’s Champions from the Swamp Bowl’s NIRSA Regional will head to the national competition in West Florida.

As we prepare for the great action to come, the NIRSA Championship Series committee would like to acknowledge and thank the following universities that stepped up to support the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships with Institutional Registrations. The registrations included: University of Central Florida, University of Florida, and University of Southern Mississippi at the gold level; Georgia Southern University and Texas A&M at the silver level; and Louisiana State University, Oklahoma State University, and University of Kentucky at the bronze level.

In building one of our strongest competitions yet, we’re also excited to welcome the National Collegiate Flag Football Hall of Fame, presented by the University of New Orleans Department of Recreational and Intramural Sports, an honored flag football tradition that will now be part of the NIRSA National Flag Football Championships. Steve Rey, of Western Kentucky University and chair of the National Collegiate Flag Football Hall of Fame selection committee and Region III Representative to NIRSA’s Member Network, said the committee will vote on the 2013 inductees in the next few days and the awards will be presented during a banquet in Pensacola on January 4.
