For 28 years, the NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation has been providing recreation professionals with a learning experience that helps them build skills to become leaders in their departments, on their campus, and in the profession. Experienced recreational sports faculty members develop the course curriculum, design the program schedule, and lead sessions that provide participants with opportunities to practice, discuss, and refine the professional skills necessary for success. The School is typically offered in May or June and is on a three-year rotation where Level I is offered for two consecutive years and Level II in the third year.
Registration for the 2017 NIRSA School of Collegiate Recreation Level II, presented by Life Fitness will open on December 7. The institute will take place from May 21–25 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
The NIRSA School Level II is designed for professionals with five or more years of full-time experience. It is actually a requirement that in order to attend participants must have at least five years of professional experience. Please ensure you have met this requirement prior to submitting your registration.
Curricular offerings and the schedule are designed to offer an intensive program structured to provide participants with professionally challenging sessions to further develop their competencies. The interrelationship between course offerings is designed to provide a well-rounded approach to handling challenges in today’s collegiate recreation environment. Participants must attend all sessions to receive a certificate of completion.
“The NIRSA School Level II was a great opportunity to interact with and learn from colleagues from around the country,” says one 2014 institute attendee. “It was wonderful to be able to learn from others who are dealing with the same challenges at their own institutions. This was one of my best NIRSA experiences ever.”
Another attendee adds that “Level II re-energized me. The school, the faculty, my team…everyone…reminded me of why I chose this profession and why I love it so much.”
To foster a personal and dynamic learning environment, there is a registration cap of 48 students for this institute. Past years have shown that those 48 spaces fill quickly, so make sure to register promptly on December 7! The registration price is $720.
